Donald Schlyer
1946 - 2021
Ambitious Aviator and Attorney Who Fought Vigorously for His Clients
For more than 35 years, Donald Schlyer served individuals in Illinois and Indiana who were in need of a strong advocate to fight for compensation for their accident and injury cases.
Donald practiced trial law in the NW Indiana area since 1986 until his passing in 2021.
Donald had a passion for airplanes, having done his first solo flight at the young age of 16. He served in the Airforce and the Illinois National Guard. Donald's experience as a pilot and instructor gave him unique insight into the aviation industry and aviation law.
Donald was committed to fighting for the compensation his clients deserved.
Donald founded Schlyer & Associates, P.C. in 1988. The firm grew to become one of the largest personal injury law firms in Merrillville, Indiana.
Attorney David Novak worked with Donald for over 20 years as a partner in the firm. Attorney David Wilson worked at Schyler and Associates early in his career and continued his long history of success in personal injury law at his law firm formerly known as David Wilson Law Offices.
After Donald Schlyer's passing, David Wilson and David Novak merged to form Wilson & Novak Law Offices, a personal injury firm that is committed to fighting for the rights of and compensation for the injured throughout NW Indiana.
